Stories with sad ending, have very little space in Bollywood!

I rarely see movies with dark ending, being acclaimed by the viewers. Here is one such movie which may set trend for other movie makers to pursue such topics, but again, as I said, I don't personally like movies with sad or grey ending.

I believe Aamir Khan must have known this fact and therefore payed more attention to exploit his body and looks.

Speaking, about the film I feel, Aamir has given top justification to the role he played here, but the action which always goes with emotions is the strong point of the film.

Still, you wouldn't love the lovely hero-heroine to be separated, and therefore may not be satisfied with the films dark end.

You would have loved to see the reaction of Kalpana( Asin) when she would have known that Sachin(Aamir) is (Sanjay Singhania), instead the film continuous on its main subject of revenge to kill Ghajini, leaving no scope of surprise in the end.

I also feel, they should have also shown Aamir die after he kills Ghajini, as Ghajini had almost hit him with iron bar (again) very brutally, which would have carry forwarded their grey subject.

The film, remake of Tamil Ghajini, has Aamir all over it. Even a very good screeplay for Asin, after Basanti in Sholay. She speaks more than Aamir! Jiah plays her part well.

There is nothing much a viewer can take back except pain, sympathy and sorrow for the lead characters, and this, I feel is not good, seeing all the gloomy scenes going around in the country. In short, Ghajini is a film that may give you short term memory loss to forget it and move to more cheerful stage.

Nokia's Leadership Challenged!

It was not long time ago when Nokia was undisputed market leader in cellphones. But over a period of time when products like Sony, Samsung, Virgin and others entered the market, the competition became stiff for all cellphone companies.

However, it became relatively easier for others to gain new customers as Nokia began to lose its hard-gained reputation, with its own carelessness.

Nokia handsets are now increasingly showing defaults. This is clear form the lines you see at the Nokia Care Centres. Also they, despite good efforts, lack in after sales services.

Take the E.g. of Nokia 5310 handset. I bought this piece in august 2008 and within 2 months of use the piece started showing sign of fault. After twice giving it to the Care Centre, they were unable to solve the issue of it getting frequent hang and switch off.

This has really disappointed me and I am sure that there are several others like me, who would have gone through such difficulty after spending huge!

Now, I have given the handset for the 3rd and final time to the care centre, lets hope, Nokia saves its brand name, or else there are sevral companies out in the market to challenge Nokia's Leadership!

'History repeats Itself!'

Some one has very rightly said, that history repeats itself, and when history is good enough who would not like it to be repeated. When Abhijeet Sawant became the winner of 1st Indian Idol the whole nation was crazy about him. He almost instantly rose to fame and super stardom after winning the title and Rs. 1 Crore.

He also went on to become the 1st runner-up in Jo Heeta Wohi Super Star on Star Plus. However, what Abhijeet Sawant couldnot do, to win both the titles of the game show, was splendidly done by the '
Gaanv Ka Chora' Ashutosh Kaushik.

Ashutosh 1st came to fame after winning the Mtv Roadies 5.0 and soon became the youth hero. However, He surpassed Abhijeet's record and became the only person in the Indian reality show history to win two titles of two leading game shows in one year!

There were several other reality shows between 1st Indian Idol and Bigg Boss 2, but what set Abhijeet and Ashutosh apart from them is that they were themselves on the show and that is what connected them to the masses, who felt that they are one of us.!

So both the incident show us the 'rags to riches' story and conveyed us that truth, simpicity are still the factors for anyone's success! Also strongly sustained was the belief, History repeats itself!

Dost'Ana'- 'Jana'! Do not Bother!

'Dostana' is a time pass film. Here I literally go by the word time pass. If you don't have something very exciting to do, go for this movie, do not plan your day specifically for this!

Hugely hyped for its gay theme, the film seriously have some special moment in the first half. Abhishek Bachchan and John Abhram gives you what you are there for, pure fun, with their funny antics. However your joy fades as soon as the love track begins.

Also unnecessary songs in the later half (as in Kal Ho Naa Ho) get on to your nerves. The romantic scenes between John and Priyanka are not at all romantic, instead it turns out be boring. When Abhisek tries wooing Priyanka, you pray better the gay angle comes back.

Bobby Deol as Priyanka's boss is mechanical (robot) He bores you even more.

Acting wise Priyanka Chopra is natural. She pulls out a decent act of a girl caught between two gay couples. John never acts, but his body does, his expressions are one and the same. Abhisek Bachchan is sheer delight! He carries his attitude well. However he too over does at few places.

Director seemed to have lost focus, whether to concentrate on gay couples, romance, or comedy and lands up giving a boring end!

Only good are the songs and the Miami locations. My favourite is 'Maa Daa laadla'!

So Dost'Ana'- 'Jana' - not worth for only 1 hour fun!

Badi Pyaari Hai Meri Tanhaai!

One of My shayris;

Badi Pyari Lagti hai Mujhko meri Tanhai
Ehsaas Dila Gai Teri Judaai

Dur Hui Thi Mujhse Meri Tanhaai..
Jab Zindagi Main Mere Tum karib aai..

Has Raha Tha main Sang Tumhare
Or chupke se ro rahi Thi Meri Tanhaai

Mano Keh rahi ho ro ke mujhko
Laut ke aana hai ek din Tujhko..

Din Haseen Guzar rahe they sang Tumhaare..
Or wahan Mano 'Guzar' gai Meri Tanhaai...

Fir wo Din aaya jab Leni padi tumse Bidaai..
Baahen Failaye Saamne Khadi Thi, wohi, Meri Tanhai..

Maano Keh rahi hai Mujhse, Jaanti hai wo Gum-e-Judaai
Aao Fir se Kar le Dil Se dil Ki Sagaai!

Badi Pyari hai meri Tanhaai (2)

'Kaun Bihari Kaun Marathi'???

While surfing through the archive section of a leading daily newspaper on internet, this news titled, Sachin, Dhoni at opening of cricket academy, hit my eyes. Yes, M.S. Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar were star attractions for the inaugural function of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Vengsarkar cricket academy at Thergaon on October 24.

Now the news story behind the news which I managed to get, or say, observe is very much important and worth taking a note.

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar, the cricketing God, is a Maharashtrian, but for all his life has been simply best to represent India globally through his game. On the other hand is Mahendra Singh Dhoni, a Bihari(North Indian) the emerging youth superstar of Indian Cricket. But when they are on field together in Indian team, do they distinguish themselves as Bihari or Marathi? No, coz they represent India, a soverign, secular, diverse, cultural,  yet united Nation.

Again Mr. Vengsarkar, who organized this event is a Maharashtrian, but did he distinguish between the two??. No. Our diversity has made us an unique nation and we should use appropriate measures to maintain it.

Through this article I beg all the readers to open up their brains and not to support politicians or leaders who try to divide India on regional, language or caste basis. By 2020 we want to be super power. If we fight amonst ourself we won't  be able to make a slightest progress.

It's time for globalization, it's time for modern religion,  it's time for progress and  it's time for us to work together, where every one is equal and same, irrespective their caste.

JAI HIND!

'Swar'- My Inner Voice!

Every person on this earth has his/her 'inner-voice. The sound which is deep inside and erupts only when you give a proper hearing to it. It is 'Soul-Searching' it is you, your thoughts, you as an individual, who has been doomed all the while.

At times when we feel low or those unforgettable moments when we are let down, we seem to need some kind of emotional or mental support. We usually speak to our closest pal or our dearest family member during times of distress to ease the burden. At such times we get over the initial drizzle of emotional anxiety and mental restlessness, because of the pepping up by our empathic listener. We suddenly feel rejuvenated because our inner voice alerts us to get on with things and leave the things of past on the memory books of our brain.

It is what is there in our sub conscious mind. It is always right as it reflects our experience with facts which are true. It can be used to rejuvenate our fallen morale, can be used to be positive, can be utilized to forget things, can be used to search happiness, when the world out is gloomy.

It is what we really are. It is our mirror image. It is one that is with us, even before we learn to speak. It will be there always, just hear it. It is the 'Swar' which you always want to connect with. It is yours. Don't ignore it!

Golmaal hai bhai 'plot' main Golmaal hai! **1/2

For more movie reviews by me visit www.fridaytadka.com
All those who have seen Golmaal, would agree with this, that the reason behind the success was the togetherness of all the 4 characters of the movie. Although they played against each other, they were united till the end and are infact seen together form the beginning.

Golmaal returns fails here. You see no togetherness or care for each other to achieve something common.
Would you have loved Lage raho Munnabhai if circuit would have been in another gang? Or say would we have loved Phir hera Pheri If Raju, Babubhaiya and Shyam were seperated?? The answer is straight no.

No doubt the characters are well sketched but they lose the shine as soon as they are seperated.
Here Gopal is in trouble and his brother in law Lucky with his Junior Laxman(talpade) helps him get out of it. Then there is also Arshad( Madhav) who is behind Gopal( reason not cleared) to catch him in trouble and harassing him throughout.

So despite the characters being good, some punch lines being good, you feel missing on something. I dont understand why Rohit Shetty wasted money on expensive songs, instead he could have roped in writers who could have helped him with better plot/story.
All in all a waste of gem like characters in a weak script, which could have encashed if payed attention on better script.

'Perfect' Body Boss.... Me on the Way!

"One has either to feed people or amuse people in order to be remembered for life" These are the words of a famous English philosopher. The person, however, missed saying that one has to keep on doing things that surprises them and give the world pleasant shock every time.

This is what Aamir Khan has been doing throughout his career. Each time he sets the standards so high, that whenever someone reaches near him, he climbs one more step up the ladder. From the village-boy look in Lagaan to the spiky look in 'Taare Zameen Par' the man has adorned himself to become Bollywood's style icon. Now the perfectionist Khan has donned the perfect 'killer' look for his upcoming flick 'Ghajni'. His near bald look had already generated curiosity amongst the masses and now his chiseled physique in Ghajini has surely heightened that curiosity, to actually watch his performance in the movie.

But keeping the discussion of his upcoming movie performance aside, as we know it would be magnificent as always, I want to talk something about the splendid body he has managed to build. Well, to attain a body of this kind after crossing the age 40 is not a cakewalk. I am saying this because even I have been trying hard for some time now, to get a at least a medium size physique. But seriously I have not been able to get even that bulk, except a bit on face. As building this kind of a body requires 1) patience 2) proper diet and 3) Good training. Well I have the last 2, hope I develop the 1st one, the much needed soon.

So, hopefully you will see a better picture of mine, compared to the adjacent one, till August 2009! Wish me luck, support and love as i always crave for it!

Karzzz will do well.....!

Can Himesh Reshammiya act? Will he be able to match the performance of Rishi Kapoor in Original Karz? Will he be able to satisfy his fans again as he did it in Aap Ka Suroor?

I entered Cinema Hall with all these questions in my mind; and by the time I was half way through the movie, i got answer for couple of questions.

First of all Yes Himesh has pulled out a decent performance. No matter what the industry says but the fact is Himesh is impressive. Irrespective of what the so called badshahs and kings of bollywood have to say that, he can not act nor can sing, but who cares, till the time Himesh plays in his safe territory he will continue to appeal and will be loved by his target audience.

When he started singing I met people who commented "he is headache" but back home they loved listening his music and songs. Same is in the case of acting.

The film, as we know, is remake of classic Karz so I will not go much in story details but it is definitely a worth watch again in the new look. When there is so much tension and uncertainty all around in world with economic coming down, lack of job opportunities, it is relaxing to roam in this safe and predictable journey of Karzzz!

Karzzz is a complete family entertainer and will surely do well. I loved it ... A sincere effort reflects on screen!

Truley 'Sajjan' In today's Masala Movie World!

I began watching this movie with not much expectation. This not my fault here, coz as a common viewer I am addicted to watch masala movies (Om Shanti Om, to name a few) were I am guaranteed of complete entertainment.

As I mentioned above in the title, Welcome to Sajjanpur is truely sajjan in its presentation and content. We have Mahadev our central character an aspiring novel writer, but who is earning bread, writing pursuasive emotional letters for the illiterate villagers. Amrita Rao as kamla is powerful. Same with character of Ravi Kishen, Ila Arun, Divya Dutta and the eunuch. All have delieverd strong performances.

You should appreciate Shyamji's efforts for picking up this project. The film gives satirical comment on some of the important issues that are prevalent in the society. In a nutshell, not the kind of movie that will be your first choice, but not one to miss yet!

A Wednesday On a Friday *****

This is the 9th month of the year, and Bollywood has already seen a few spectacular films, despite a few disappointments namely Tashan, Thoda Pyar Thoda Magic, Love Story 2050, Contract. However, this has been a year were terrorism has been the central issue of not 1 or 2 but 6 movies. Khuda Ke Liye, Mumbai Meri Jaan, Aamir, Tahaan, Hijack and A Wednesday. In all these films A Wednesday directed by debutant Neeraj Pandey, stands out, and is a real winner.

Almost all major cities and towns have some where or the other experienced the black face of terror. A Wednesday brings out the same dilemma of the society, but in a unique way. From start to end the film grips your attention and no-where during the film will you be bored; in fact, the director tactfully fools you more then couple of times.

The director writer has succeeded in showing the exact emotions and grievances of people who are affected and who are forced to live a life of fear, and also one of the consequence, if their anger bursts out. The film also highlights the flaws and disability of the government to handle matters related to terrorism. Both the lead actors Naseerudin Shah and Anupam Kher have given an impeccable performance and are the central characters of the movie.

The movie is an eye-opner for many and has lot to offer. Neeraj Pandey has successfuly given a new twist to the film, and is high above the movies released on the same plot earlier this year. A brave attempt for a debut Neeraj!

Sexual Bias!!!

The other day i saw Cheeni Kum, Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu. There came on a dialouge which i think is worth a debate and i found it judgmental. "Sex is the price women pay for marriage and marriage is the price man pays for sex! Dont know about others but i found it a bit akward that, people believe that only men are interested in sex and a girl never has her share of interest or pleasure!

What i feel is Men are out for either lust or love and usually don't mix
them up. When a man is out for lust, all that he really desires from her is sex .
He does not take her seriously and does not have intentions of ending up
with her. He is just in it for fun.

When a man is out for love, he will wait much longer because he desires
more than just sex. He desires and needs her support, and want her to be
with him together. When a man is in love with a woman and she has never
been with another man, it'll make him feel good.

The way to tell if a man has serious intentions is if he waits a long time
and/or gives her a commitment. It is this love that transforms into sex.
Women's since ancient times wantsecurity....and therefore MARRIAGE exists. Thus there are 2 categories ofmen wanting sex, one out of lust and other due to pure relationship and
faith in partner which is cordial!. so YOU CANNOT GENERALIZE IT!
Though it is not to meant personally (it hurts men)!:-)

My Take On Rock On!

'The Music permeate the Magik in Rock On!

Four college friends set together to accomplish their music dream, fall apart and push themselves to live a life which they could have easily avoided. Farhan Akhtar (Aditya) is the lead singer of Magik band along with Arjun Rampal (Joe) Guitarist, Purab Kohli ( KD) and Luke Kenny (Rob). Rock On is all about how they reunite to live for their dream.

The film, moving on Dil Chahta Hai Track, in initial frames where scenes run in from flashback to present, is soothing and worth watch, thanks to a brilliant camera work and heart-whelming music! The first half is crisped and keeps you glued, unlike the second half that helps you feel some 'so filmy' scenes.

Acting wise Farhan 'Actor' is fantastic. His screen presence is brilliant and fits the role given to him. Arjun Rampal also surprises with a decent performance, portraying a gloomy dissatisfied man. Luke Kenny justifies the music master role given to him, as he is in real life, and pulls out a splendid act. The man who manges to smile and make us feel light amidst this emotional drama, is undisputedly Purab Kohli. He has really managed to pull out a fabulous performance with the help of some funny lines.

The leading heroine Prachi Desai ( Sakshi) justifies her role as Aditya's wife and plays a crucial role in their reunion. Arjun Rampals screen wife Debby, plays a caring practical lady acting as a bridge in Rampal's carrer and family!

In a nutshell, a splendid performance from all the actors and and standing ovation for Abhishek Kapoor to choose this topic and deriving superb performance from the actors!

'Mann Se Kehta Hai RAJ GOR RAJ ESH!

Hi everybody. Yes, finally I am writing my first blog and putting forward my views. It has been for a long time, I have been thinking to write or speak on this topic, but my lazy nature refrained me from doing this.

Well, lot have been said, heard, written and published about Raj Thackrey, his party, his stand for Marathi manoos and all that he has been doing for re-establishing Marathi culture and the lost pride and rights of people of Maharashtra. However, his act and deeds in the state to re-unite the lost Marathi culture is not acceptable and is truly debatable!

The fact cannot be denied that you have to respect the culture, rituals, language of the state you are living in and should proudly feel for the state or region that is giving you your bread and butter. But when it comes to Mumbai, Uncle Raj( yes, I would call him uncle as he is my father's age) should also understand that it has been the financial capital of the country much before his Party came into existence. We communicate with each other in English, write mails chat, do our business deals every thing in other language, due to sheer convenience, which should not be considered as an insult to Marathi language or Marathi Manoos. Many companies have made their way into Mumbai and provided employment and growth to many Mumbaikars(Read also Marathi manoos). If we do not want these companies to enter Mumbai or say Maharashtra, we could possibly make Marathi a compulsory language!

Raj recently enforced all shop-owners to translate their signboards into Marathi stating that they have been violating the states law by displaying a non-marathi board. Later even the BMC joined them and started penalizing the shop owners that do not display a Marathi signboard. My point here is that if Uncle Raj can understand law this much how can he forget the basic fundamental or say constitutional law/Right of people of India that they can reside anywhere in India and earn and settle their basic needs! Why is he constantly trying to attack the UPities and Biharis??? If he is so adamant to reduce the population of these 'Parprantiya' (Outsiders) his party should take an active stand to work against the Bangladeshi's and Pakistani's, who are illegally invading our country!

I personally like Uncle Raj as he is a good orator and has potential to seriously do something good for the Marathi people but his way of harassing and bullying people is not tolerable. I would go ahead and say that instead of doing something good for Marathi people, he has divided them by separating himself from Shiv-Sena! He could have easily shown his potential by being in Shiv-Sena. I want to ask him, how bullying, beating and harassing people of other caste would help do good for Marathi Manoos??? What good has he done for Marathi people since the formation of his party???

To cut the long story short, I want to say that Uncle Raj should utilize his power, energy for the well-being of the state and overall development of Maharashtra and Nation. We have major issues like Floods, bad roads, suicide of farmers, shortage of electricity, above mentioned invaders and terrorism to fight for so why waste man power and strength on our own people and destroy the states property?? Re Think On your Motto Uncle Raj and, I am sure that you will gain much more name, fame and respect than these infamous one's!

Jai Hind! Jai Maharashtra!
